Heather Wyatt, RN

Northlake Campus, Manager, 4West Renal

I’m proud to serve as a Registered Nurse at Methodist Hospitals Northlake campus. From the moment I set foot in this institution, I was drawn to its mission of serving the inner-city population. It was a challenge I eagerly embraced, as it provided me with the opportunity to make a meaningful difference in a community that needed it most. Methodist’s commitment to serving the community aligns perfectly with my own values, and it’s a commitment that I see in action every day.

What sets Methodist apart from other hospitals, in my view, is its unwavering dedication to the communities it serves. Here, we don’t just provide healthcare services; we actively work to improve the overall health and well-being of our neighbors. It’s this dedication that sets us apart and inspires me to do my best work every day.

Methodist Hospitals’ commitment to nursing excellence and professional development opportunities for staff members is evident in the myriad of educational opportunities available both within and outside the organization. Whether it’s through internal training programs or tuition reimbursement for further education, Methodist ensures that its nurses have the tools they need to excel in their practice.

As a leader within the nursing unit, my leadership style is rooted in servant leadership. I believe in providing my staff with everything they need to succeed, whether it’s supplies for patient care, mentorship opportunities, or support in advancing their careers. By fostering a culture of support and empowerment, I aim to ensure that every member of my team feels valued and motivated to do their best work.

Effective communication and collaboration are essential components of my management approach. I prioritize open, closed-loop communication to ensure that everyone on the team knows what is expected of them and what they can expect from me. This fosters a healthy working culture where ideas are shared, problems are addressed, and everyone feels heard and respected.

I take personal measures to ensure that nurses in my unit feel valued, supported, and motivated. I believe in showing gratitude and appreciation through both words and actions, and I make it a priority to be available to help my staff whenever they need it. Whether it’s pitching in to assist with patient care or providing emotional support during challenging times, I’m committed to being there for my team.

My management approach aligns seamlessly with Methodist Hospitals’ mission, vision, and values. As a servant leader, I am here to serve our patients, their families, and my own staff. Together, we work toward a common goal of providing compassionate, quality healthcare to all members of our community.
